Master of Design Preliminary Year Studio

The increasingly complex challenges designers embrace are not only changing the nature of what designers do but how disciplinary knowledge in design is understood. The field of design continues to expand in exciting and unprecedented ways. The MDes Preliminary Year embraces this evolving reality by welcoming students without traditional design backgrounds to the School, acknowledging a range of post-secondary study, critical and cultural engagement, and professional experience as effective starting points in design.

The 2021 MDes Preliminary Year Graphic Design cohort was challenged to appropriate a tool from Industrial Design. Using CAD and rendering software, each student was asked to develop images expressive of verbs of their choosing. What acts do you see, what action do you feel?
