Righteous Blasphemy
Politics and religion are interconnected, and, together, the beliefs they espouse are deeply embedded in most people’s perception of reality. The resulting divisiveness, as we have seen, especially in the past 6-8 years, can be catastrophic. The ember of hypocrisy keeps the stakes, as it were, burning, stoking hate, retaliation, lies. Growing up Catholic, I am sickened by all the double standards. Good versus evil, and all that. Early Christianity and politics were wholly interdependent. Heresy and hysteria were rampant. As a designer, I have sought to exemplify this long and twisted history, and the propagandizing of beliefs then and now, by transmogrifying images and language into striking forms. The progression of the resulting publication tells a sordid tale.
