In order to complete simple daily tasks, our body bends and maneuvers in various ways. As we age, we are often culturally defined by what we can and cannot do, and how our body performs. For every individual, dexterity varies across a wide spectrum from person to person regardless of age. Nevertheless, in today’s market, products geared towards helping those who are dexterously challenged are often medicalized and costly. Naomi, inspired after my grandma, revisits how objects for home cleaning are designed, focusing not only on assisting dexterously challenged individuals of all ages but also on restoring a desired degree of independence. Designed for the commercial market, Naomi’s fluid, organic shapes conform to the body, providing assistance and needed support without over-taxing the body.
