F*** Double Standards
Let’s talk about double standards. Why are there so many assumed differences between the abilities of women versus men? How is it that a man is allowed to skate across the ice with ease, so to speak, while women skate on thin ice with a great weight on their shoulders? Women have to hustle harder, speak louder, and earn respect over and over again. Society needs to open up its eyes and recognize that the male/female dichotomy is false. We are all the same species, for heaven’s sake. And what’s up with the whole ‘a man can engage in casual sex with multiple women because he’s a player,’ but a woman who dare follow suit is labeled a slut, a whore, or worse. Come on, ladies, enough! You want to play, play. Indulge yourself, have fun. Then buckle up your pants, freshen up your lipstick, and be safe getting home. My current design work celebrates the conflation of the female/male divide and the concurrent demise of the double standard.
