Change begins with the individual. The steps we take today, no matter how big or small, costly or inexpensive, complicated or straightforward, can affect, in some way, however miniscule, people, spaces, and circumstances. As a designer, affecting change is an inspiration, because a simple idea can change the world. During the Covid-19 lockdowns that began in March 2020, in-home gardening peaked, especially among young adults. But for many, the hobby was limited to growing and caring for house plants due to a lack of adequate space. HomeGrown is a modular, free-standing or wall-mounted indoor gardening shelving system that enables one to start a garden in the home; the system can be expanded when more space is available and one's garden grows. HomeGrown uses the Wick Hydroponics System which distributes water throughout the plant using a water-absorbent wick. HomeGrown is a low-maintenance, high reward system for indoor gardeners with the gift of a green thumb.
